The Pediatric Surgery Oncology Fellowship is a non-ACGME accredited program designed to accommodate fellows with a variety of surgical backgrounds who wish additional training in pediatric oncology. Eligible fellows include those with training in general or pediatric surgery. A number of fellows trained in this program have returned to their countries where they are able to provide this highly specialized care.
A number of weekly, biweekly and monthly conferences are held at St. Jude and at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center in conjunction with the General Pediatric Surgery Fellowship Program.
As a fellow, you are expected to become involved in clinical research projects and may choose to spend an additional research year. An affiliation with M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX provides fellows with the opportunity to work on the adult sarcoma service – teaching and conferences and teaching opportunities are held on a regular basis with the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Pediatric Surgery Fellowship Program.
